Alexander James Jacob

Director
Alex Jacob is a UK-based television drama director and producer with over twenty years’ experience creating scripted television across drama, comedy and international family entertainment.
Beginning his career through the assistant director route on landmark BBC productions including EastEnders and Casualty, Alex developed a strong foundation in performance, storytelling and production before establishing himself as a director.
His directing credits include BBC drama Waterloo Road, ITV’s Coronation Street and Emmerdale, Casualty, Hollyoaks, Doctors, Moving On, The Dumping Ground, 4 O’Clock Club, and international drama series including HBO’s Theodosia and Spellbound, produced for a global audience with partners including Hulu, ZDF and France Télévisions.
Alex was Lead Director and Executive Producer on CBBC drama series The Lady Grace Mysteries, directing six episodes and casting the lead roles. He has also produced and directed the award-winning drama The World According to Grandpa.
His work on Casualty contributed to BAFTA-winning submissions in 2017 and 2020. Alongside his creative work, Alex has served on the Board of Directors for Directors UK, contributing to industry leadership and advocacy on behalf of screen directors.
Alex’s approach is rooted in character, performance and emotional storytelling. Known for a calm and collaborative leadership style, he brings extensive experience working with large ensembles, young performers and complex productions, delivering ambitious drama within demanding schedules.
He is currently focused on developing opportunities within high-end returning drama, international co-productions and streamer-led television.
